So I can't really write much tonight because I'm dead tired. But I watched So You Think You Can Dance!!! OMG I don't really know who I favor. Robert is amazing to watch, Kent is adorable, and Lauren is a freaking dance goddess!!!! I don't know I'm really thinking Lauren... Yeah so if you read this and watch SYTYCD, comment. If not.... oh well.

Welcome! (first post)
Hello there! This is my blog that I will use to discuss books, movies, and popular topics. And who am I?
Well, my name is Jocie (pronounced JAW-SEE), which is short for Jocelyn. I'm currently eighteen years old and homeless. But that is changing tomorrow.
You see, tomorrow I'm going to go live with my cousin. But after spending an entire week in a Salvation Army shelter, I feel compelled to discuss the topic of homelessness in my first blog.
Homeless people can either be some of the most caring people you'll ever meet or the worst to trust, depending on who they are. My first night at what most people call "The Sally", I met tons of people from different backgrounds, and at different ages. In fact the first woman I met was in her late fifties, but the second was only nineteen. Each had a different occurrence happen in their life that made them homeless.
See most people think that all homeless people are drug addicts or alcoholics, but that's really not the case. Heck, I've never smoked and/or drank and never even had so much as a detention and I still ended up homeless.
The fact of the matter is that, yes, there are people who are addicted to drugs or alcohol, but some people have been genuinely screwed over by society. I mean, just look at my situation. I never even thought that I'd ever be homeless, but then my stepfather lost his job and then we got evicted all in the same weekend. My mother was put in to the hospital and when she got released from there we went straight to the shelter. And, I'm not gonna lie, I was VERY stressed out.
But the truth is, looking back on this past week, I smiled, laughed, loved, and felt love more in the past week from these people that hardly know me than I've felt in months. Because mostly everyone looks out for each other, they're all in the same situation.
And yet, we get treated like teenagers in boarding school. Sign in after 4:30 pm but before 8:00pm, Lights out at 10:00pm, wake up at 6:00am, be out by 7:00am, and don't come back until 4:30pm. Who cares where you go as long as you're not there during the day. Can't walk in 102 degree weather? Not their problem. You get hungry at night? ha! forget it! No food in the rooms. Wanna kiss your husband? FORGET IT! PDA's are not acceptable.
Multiple times this week I've said, "Well shit, we're homeless people, not prisoners.", but everyone there feels like one. Some even say they'd rather live in a tent out in the woods because at least they're able to stay up past ten o' clock. I know that homeless people should "be thankful for at least having a roof over their head", and believe me, they don't let you forget it.
Well, that was my first post. I won't always discuss topics such as this, someday I might share thoughts on a book I've read, or a movie I've seen. Sometimes I might share my thoughts on the latest celebrity gossip. It just depends on what interests me. Have a good one!
